Join Fargo-Moorhead for its 39th season and BRING THE KIDS FOR FREE!!! This year we’re offering a free child’s ticket with each adult ticket purchased courtesy of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation. You and yours won’t want to miss the zany Mikado, heart warming Amahl and the Night Visitors and the vocal fireworks of Dueling Divas.

The season kicks off with Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado. Set in the “Japanese” town of Titipu, FMO favorites Vicki Fingalson and Mark Calkins camp it up as Yum-Yum and Nanki-Poo as they try to outwit the feared Mikado. You’ll be rolling in the aisles at this hilarious operetta – a perfect family event!

A new holiday tradition starts with our production of the American classic Amahl and the Night Visitors. First premiered on television, this one-act opera takes place as the Three Kings journey to Bethlehem. The miraculous climax of the plot will warm your heart and set you in the mood for a glorious holiday season. This is the perfect introduction to opera for even the youngest children. We will be partnering with NDSU Opera Theater for this production with the FMO performances sung by Peter Halverson, Holly Wrensch and David Hamilton. They will be joined by a professional cast that will create an unforgettable experience for the entire family.

The season closes with Dueling Divas - two extraordinary performers who are sure to offer up a night to remember. Metropolitan Opera sopranos Cynthia Lawrence and Stella Zambalis ignite vocal fireworks at Reineke Festival Hall for this very special production with full orchestra. You'll hear favorite arias and scenes from opera with special appearances by David Hamilton, Peter Halverson, Lucy Thrasher, Virginia Sublett and more!!
