Her professional journey includes roles as a financial advisor, startup team lead, and regional portfolio manager in the beverage distribution industry. A graduate of Concordia College with a degree in Global Studies, International Business, and Spanish, Regina’s connection to FM Opera began in 2008 as a chorus member, later serving as a board member and board secretary. Her longstanding relationship with the company and the community informs her leadership with authenticity and vision. Outside the opera, Regina is a Certified Specialist of Wine, a yoga instructor, and an engaged community member. Joshua Kohl, a seasoned tenor with over 20 years of experience on the international opera stage, brings a wealth of artistic expertise to his role as Artistic Director of Fargo-Moorhead Opera. His distinguished performance career includes leading roles with companies such as Seattle Opera, Minnesota Opera, and Pittsburgh Opera, as well as international engagements at Musiktheater im Revier and Konzert Theater Bern. Renowned for his versatility and dramatic depth, Joshua performed an extensive repertoire during his six seasons with Theater Freiburg, including Des Grieux, Rodolfo, Pinkerton, and Peter Quint, earning critical acclaim for his recording of Hulda. His connection to FM Opera began in 2013 with performances in Gianni Schicchi, Carmen, and La Bohème, and in 2017, he made Fargo his home. In addition to his artistic leadership, Joshua works as a Professional Search Consultant at Preference Employment Solutions, supporting the local community. Olds succeeds David Hamilton, who recently concluded 25+ years of leadership at the end of the 2022-2023 season. Olds is the 3rd General Director in the 55-year history of FM Opera and brings 25 years of experience as an executive & artistic director in all aspects of arts management with specific focus in opera & musical theatre. “We are extremely excited to have Curt Olds named as General Director of the Fargo Moorhead Opera. Curt’s energy, connections, talent, and vision will bring FM Opera to the next level and ensure the success of the organization for years to come,” states Karin Rudd, FM Opera Board Member and Chair of the recent search committee. Prior to joining FM Opera, Olds worked extensively as an arts leader and performer, appearing at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and on Broadway. He has been seen with New York City Opera, Atlanta Opera, and many other opera and musical theatre companies across the country. He currently serves as Director of Artistic Planning for Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre and is the Managing Director/Founder of Black Tie Broadway, a symphonic pops and special events company which creates productions and content for performing arts organizations around the world. He has also previously served as Manager/Vice President of Concert and Special Projects at ADA Artist Management in New York City representing 80+ clients. He holds master’s degrees in both vocal performance with distinction from New England Conservatory and a bachelor’s degree from University of Montana. Chris is excited to perform with Fargo-Moorhead Opera again, having recently joined them as Talpa in Il Tabarro and as Barol Douphol in La Traviata. Other recent engagements include Silvio in Pagliacci, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Escamillo in Carmen, Baron Scarpia in Tosca, Marcello in La Bohème, Count Monterone in Rigoletto, and the title role in Don Giovanni. An avid composer, Chris wrote and premiered a new opera, The Enigma of Amigara Fault, with librettist Robert Feng, in 2026. Originally hailing from Los Angeles, California, Chris received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics in 2012 from the University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating from UCLA, Chris attended Yale University, earning a Ph.D. in Immunobiology in 2018. Her recent directing work spans educational outreach and cabaret programming with Opera in the Ozarks and Indianapolis Opera. At Opera in the Ozarks, this past summer she assistant directed Candide and Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi, while also directing the educational tour of Monkey See, Monkey Do! During the 2025–26 season, she served as Resident Assistant Director and Production Coordinator with Indianapolis Opera. She is returning this season to assistant direct La traviata, after assisting on Rigoletto, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Le nozze di Figaro last season. Previously, Amy served as an Apprentice Stage Director with Opera Neo, assisting on Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Haydn’s Armida. Amy’s directing work also includes Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at Florida State University, her culminating thesis project for her Master of Music in Opera Production, as well as educational outreach productions of The Magic Flute and Abrazo de Oso. Currently under contract with Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Hjelle continues to captivate audiences, most recently earning high praise for her star turn in the title role of Tosca. Critics lauded her performance, noting, “The show is a star turn for Heather Hjelle. She sings with easy power and range, but also a vulnerability...Hjelle alone would be worth the price of admission...” Celebrated for her powerful, expressive instrument and dramatic versatility, Hjelle’s extensive repertoire features a litany of opera's most demanding dramatic heroines, including Giorgetta (Il Tabarro), Turandot, Gioconda, and Suor Angelica. Her momentum continues into the season with a major upcoming highlight: collaborating with renowned pianist John Parr to perform Brünnhilde’s formidable Immolation Scene from Götterdämmerung for Lieder Alive. Recent performances include singing as the Song Seller in Puccini’s Il Tabarro with FM Opera; playing Prince Dauntless in Mary Rodgers’ Once Upon a Mattress with Badlands Opera Project; Pulitzer in Alan Menken’s Newsies with Stage West; and as a featured soloist with the FM Symphony. Spolleta will be Rohr’s third appearance with FM Opera. Additional companies and festivals he has worked with include Opera North in Lebanon, NH; Cedar Rapids Opera in Cedar Rapids, IA; Lake George Music Festival in Lake George, NY; and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. His distinguished performance career includes leading roles with companies such as Seattle Opera, Minnesota Opera, and Pittsburgh Opera, as well as international engagements at Musiktheater im Revier and Konzert Theater Bern. Renowned for his versatility and dramatic depth, Joshua performed an extensive repertoire during his six seasons with Theater Freiburg, including Des Grieux, Rodolfo, Pinkerton, and Peter Quint, earning critical acclaim for his recording of Hulda. His connection to FM Opera began in 2013 with performances in Gianni Schicchi, Carmen, and La Bohème, and in 2017, he made Fargo his home. In addition to his artistic leadership, Joshua works as a Professional Search Consultant at Preference Employment Solutions, supporting the local community. He has been working as a lighting and scenic designer with the FM Opera Company periodically for over a decade. He is currently the Technical Theatre Coordinator for Fargo Public Schools and Trollwood Performing Arts. He has worked as a technical director and as a scenic and lighting designer all across the FM area including Concordia College, Stage West, Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre, Theatre B, and many more. He is a Fargo, ND native and a proud alumnus of the NDSU BFA Theatre Design program. Leah is an active member of the performing arts community in the FM area. After graduating from NDSU with a BS in Theatre Arts, Leah interned in Stage Management at The Juilliard School and spent 7 years in the NYC area working in Stage and Production Management. Regionally, Leah has Stage Managed productions with FM Opera, Theatre B, NDSU Opera Theatre, Theatre NDSU, Act Up Theatre, Trollwood Performing Arts School, and Lyric Opera of the North.
