2018 Gate City Bank Young Artist Program Staff
Carson Rose Schneider is an award-winning collaborative pianist and coach currently based in Minneapolis, MN. She has given recitals throughout the United States and Europe, and is an active performer and coach of chamber music, art song, choir music, opera, and musical theatre. Since her last season as director, she has worked as a resident artist coach at Opera North in Lebanon, NH and most recently as a Herndon Foundation Emerging Artist with Virginia Opera. This June she will be on the piano faculty at Bay View Music Festival for their two week art song, opera scenes, and recording program, called S.O.A.R.S.
Before moving to Minneapolis, Dr. Schneider worked as a staff accompanist at Eastern Kentucky University. She also served as Music Director and Tour Pianist for University of Kentucky’s Schmidt Opera Outreach Program. Their production of John Davies’ Little Red’s Most Unusual Day reached kids in about 72 schools all over Kentucky. Passionate about arts outreach, she has been involved in other opera outreach programs in Minneapolis-St Paul, sponsored by the Twin Cities’ Opera Guild.
She finished her Doctor of Musical Arts in collaborative piano and coaching at the University of Minnesota in Fall 2017, where she studied with Timothy Lovelace. Additional study includes time abroad as a collaborative piano fellow at La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy and as a piano fellow for Bay View’s mainstage opera program. In addition to her doctorate, she has other degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MM) and theUniversity of North Carolina School of the Arts (BM).
Frederic Heringes has appeared on Broadway in the San Francisco & Toronto companies of “The Phantom of the Opera” (Ubaldo Piangi); in New York City in Brya Putnam’s new musical “The Toymaker” and played the role of Artiste in Moliere’s “The Learned Ladies”. Regional Theatre credits include Agent Rank in “Unnecessary Farce”, Saunders in “Lend Me a Tenor”, and premiere productions of “Stonewall’s Bust” by John Morogiello and “One Golden Moment” by Wm. S. C. Coleman.
In Opera, Mr. Heringes has been heard with Florida Grand Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Anchorage Opera, Chautauqua Opera and Fargo-Moorhead Opera. He studied acting at The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in California and was a member of the repertory acting company there for five seasons, appearing in over thirty plays and musicals. He returns to the FM Opera stage, having most recently appeared as Goro in “Madama Butterfly” and as St. Brioche in “The Merry Widow”. In addition, Mr. Heringes serves as the stage director for the Gate City Bank Young Artist Program with FM Opera.
