Love, longing, and the beauty of the natural world come together in Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, one of the great masterpieces of song. Through twenty poems by Wilhelm Müller, a young wanderer follows a brook to a mill, where he falls hopelessly in love with the miller’s daughter and experiences the exhilaration, jealousy, heartbreak, and despair of unrequited love. Presented at The Armory in Moorhead in collaboration with The Rourke, this immersive, multidisciplinary production pairs Schubert’s music and Müller’s poetry with the visual art of Marjorie Schlossman, creating an experience in which music, poetry, visual art, and space come together to tell one deeply human story.
