Sophia Keller
Sophia Keller is a junior at Concordia College studying with Dr. Anne Jennifer Nash. She combines her love of languages with her music studies as she pursues a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance while minoring in German and studying Italian independently. This past summer she studied at Bel Canto in Tuscany, where she played La Maestra delle Novizie in Suor Angelica as well as Susanna, La Contessa, and Dorabella in their scenes program. Sophia has studied Italian in Florence at the Istituto Lorenzo de’ Medici.
Her past roles in the Concordia Opera program consist of Lady Vivienne in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon and Goldilocks in Johnathan Stinson’s The Three Bears. This is her third appearance with the Fargo-Moorhead Opera. Sophia has previously sung in the chorus of La Traviata as well as in the Ragazzi Quartet/Chorus of Turandot.
In recent competitions, she received 1st place at the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Concerto Competition (2023), 2 first-place finishes in her categories at North Dakota NATS, multiple placements at Minnesota NATS and she won her NATS region last spring. Sophia is very excited for her upcoming junior recital in November and to prepare for the role of Edith in Concordia College Opera’s spring production of The Pirates of Penzance. Outside of music, she enjoys reading and caring for her multitude of houseplants.
